The Narrator

The narrator is Chesterton, and throughout the book, he explains how he individually developed his faith. Through his theology, readers learn that faith is a matter of choice, and it requires one to think philosophically on the significance of faith before engaging in religious matters.

Christians

The Christians are the followers of Christ, and the author refers to Orthodoxy and Catholicism. The followers of Christ belong to different religious denominations, but they all worship one God.

Religious Authority

Religious authority refers to the people at the helm of religion who make critical decisions that Christians must follow. For instance, the religious authority in the Catholic Church is the Pope. The Orthodox Church also has its religious authority.

St Thomas

St Thomas is a Catholic critical thinker and philosopher whose arguments urge religious people to believe n the existence of God.

St Augustine

St Augustine is another Important Catholic thinker whom the narrator cites when discussing philosophical scepticism regarding religion.

God

God is the Supreme Power that oversees the world. According to the narrator, the earth and all other planets are under the authority of God.
