My Abandonment, written by Peter Rock, is a novel from the point of view of a kidnapped child Caroline and her journey with her "father". The novel outlines that Caroline knows nothing of the kidnapping and travels with her kidnapper who has a mental illness. Throughout the journey Caroline shifts to many different places, suffering through social workers and the government system, reflecting the kidnapping of Elizabeth Smart.
This novel is a true story reflecting a real kidnapping story and has gained accreditation throughout the years, published among multiple companies in different forms. My Abandonment won an Alex Award, the Utah Book Award, and has been published in different languages.
