    How is Thomas's interactions with the Chorus different than the Priests' in Part I of the play?

    The Priests and Thomas Becket have notably different ways of engaging with the Chorus, which is made up of the poor and common women of Canterbury who are presumably parishioners at the cathedral and (former) followers of Thomas Becket. In the lead-up to Thomas's return from exile, the Priests are dealing with their own concerns and questions -- wondering about his spiritual and political motives, worrying for his safety and their own -- and thus do not appear especially available to provide spiritual guidance and comfort for the Chorus members who are similar anxious and...
