Mourning Becomes Electra contains references to inappropriate and abusive relationships between parents and children. Although sexual mores have changed significantly since the time that the play was written and even more since when the play is supposed to take place, students may still feel uncomfortable with the ways in which sex and sexuality are discussed in the play.
