Larry Watson was born in 1947 in Rugby, North Dakota, and grew up in Bismarck, North Dakota. He received both a BA and MA from the University of North Dakota. He now resides in Milwaukee, Wisconsin with his wife Susan, whom he met in high school.
Watson has taught creative writing and modern and contemporary American literature to university students for over 30 years, first at the University of Wisconsin Stevens Point, and now as a Visiting Professor in the English Department at Marquette University in Milwaukee.
