Elizabeth
Elizabeth is a Jewish woman living in America. While she doesn’t actively practice the Jewish faith, Miriam lives a life that’s deeply rooted in Jewish traditions. While growing up in America, she always yearned to be more involved in her Jewish heritage. Her parents moved to America from Israel and quickly adopted the American way of life. Elizabeth was therefore never exposed to the Jewish way of life as much as she would’ve wanted. Through her mother-in-law, Elizabeth gets a chance of a lifetime to appreciate and honor her heritage.
Miriam
Miriam is Elizabeth’s mother-in-law. As a teenager, Miriam was in a Nazi entrapment camp. She is a fully devoted Jew who is dedicated to faith. Miriam offers Elizabeth an opportunity she’s been yearning her whole life, to learn and experience Jewish norms and traditions. Miriam teaches Elizabeth how to prepare kosher meals. She also gets to experience the spirituality of the Jewish people.
