Objective:
Students will understand how the events of Cal's ancestral line affect his present.

Structure:
There is a narrative toggling in Middlesex, where Cal switches off between his present in Berlin and the past stories of his grandparents, parents, and childhood. Have the students create a timeline using Tiki Toki, which while allow them to visually conceptualize the major events of the novel.
