What made Lewis want to apply to transfer to Troy State University? Why weren't his parents willing to support his plan to pursue transfer?

Lewis presents his desire to transfer as a wish to be more directly involved with social just efforts closer to home. Although he enjoys his studies at American Baptist Theological Seminary, he doesn't feel as if he's making a difference immediately in the plight of those who are suffering in his own community.
