The reader realizes that both characters are a mystical representation of sacrifice. For instance, Moll has crosses in her tooth and ears, which denote her strict devotion to religion. Throughout her life, Moll is a kind-hearted woman, and she does her best to ensure she does good deeds to others. On the other hand, Lady Pedal takes a horrific sacrifice to take her prisoners to a retreat that serves their interests. Therefore, both Moll and Lady Pedal are women of substance who have a good heart that serves others' interests.
