Love
One theme of "Love Without Hope" is the everlasting one of love. The characters end up falling for each other, portraying the theme of following your dreams and always loving. The theme of love is the whole reason that this poem was written, to show that if you follow through with your dreams, like love, then you will never have to hope for anything - you already have all that you could ever want.
Freedom
One line in the poem states, "...let the imprisoned larks escape and fly." The larks represent the love that the characters feel for each other, and letting them out of their cages represents the freedom that love brings. These characters had plenty of other things to do, but they decided to confide in each other, since they were free to do whatever they wanted to do.
