Love! Valour! Compassion! Irony

Love

Although the play is about love, Gregory's relationship with his boyfriend Bobby is unsuccessful, with Bobby stating in the epilogue that he eventually leaves Gregory.

Jekyll

John and James Jekyll are twin brothers who are ironically very different. Their surname is a reference to Jekyll and Hyde, alluding to the theme of duality.

Situational irony

We might expect Bobby and Gregory to last as a couple, as they are shown to be highly compatible. However, in an unexpected twist, they separate.

Unfaithfulness

Arthur reveals that he had once cheated on Perry and was completely honest about it. However, he advises Bobby to not be so honest himself when he cheated on Gregory.

John and Ramon

Although John and Ramon are in a relationship, they couldn't be more different. While Ramon is youthful and inexperienced, John is a cynical older man.
