Whenever a man puts the adjective "honest" in front of his name, it's a dead giveaway that he is anything but. Honest Sancho is no different, presiding over Honest Sancho's Used Mexican Lot and Mexican Curio Shop. He spends his days selling various robots fashioned in the image of stereotypical Mexican Americans and Mexicans. They are very easy to operate; buyers simply have to snap their fingers and bark out a command and they will immediately obey.
One day, a customer by the name of Mrs Jiminez comes into the shop in search of a particular kind of model. Mrs Jiminez is Governor Ronald Reagan's secretary. The Governor's administration wants to purchase a Mexican that will appeal to lower income Californians. Sancho has a selection of these and proceeds to show them to Mrs Jiminez, snapping his fingers to make them become animated. Each has slightly different behaviors and each portrays a startling cultural stereotype that seems to go completely over Mrs Jiminez's head despite the fact that she herself is clearly a Mexian American too.
Sancho first shows her the Sturdy Farm Worker model. He doesn't speak any English and so does not work for Mrs Jiminez's needs. The Johnny Pachuco model is a gang member with violent tendencies and a foul mouth. The third option is a little bit more stylized than robot number two. He is a bandit, a revolutionary hailing from California's early days, initially very appealing to Mrs Jiminez but quickly discounted when she learns that he is completely Mexican made and has no parts that are made in America at all. That leaves Eric Garcia. He is well-dressed, speaks nicely in un-accented English, and is bi-lingual. He is also ambitious and the owner of a college degree. Mrs Jiminez selects him but as she is paying Sancho Eric suddenly begins protesting vociferously in Spanish "Viva la revolucion!" He snaps his robotic fingers and wakes up the other three models who join in his animated revolutionary action. Mrs Jiminez is terrified and flees. The models begin to communicate with each other and realize that they are not models, or robots, but real people. They decide to leave Pancho's shop , dividing the money that Mrs Jiminez dropped on her way out of the shop between them, and grabbing Sancho, the only robot, because he needs an oil change and a service.
