Little, Big Irony

Little, Big Irony

The paradox of John

One of the primary paradoxes the reader comes across while reading Little, Big by Crowley is the inability of John to interact with the realms of faeries in his imaginary world. In John's mind, he sees strings of worlds, and he gets bigger as he moves from one to the other. Paradoxically, his wife can interact with these imaginary worlds without any problem.

The paradox of Smoky

Smoky is a paradoxical character because he cheats on Alice with her biological sister, Sophie. Alice is a loyal woman and believes she is lucky to have married a faithful man. Alice is kept in the dark and does not know what is happening.

The irony of the Edgewood country house

Edgewood country house is strange and has a history known to only close family members. The house has been in existence for several generations, and it still stands strong. Smoky is a family member of Drinkwater's clan because he is married to Alice. Ironically, whenever he visits the Edgewood country house, he must follow rules he does not understand.
