Like a House on Fire was published by Scribe in 2012 and is Cate Kennedy's second short story collection. The anthology contains 15 stories that deal with universal human experiences: illness, loss, lack, family dynamics, capitalism, modernity, and gender roles, among other things. Kennedy offers readers a moment in the life of her characters, depicting their challenges without judgment. The collection won the Steele Rudd Award in 2013, and was short-listed for both the Kibble Award and the Stella Prize in the same year.
