Lee Harvey Oswald
Isolated misfit whose every attempt to fit ends in failure. This motivation sends him into a mix of both Right-wing and Left-Wing extremists and situates him as “the Libran” who is perfectly balanced yet capable of being shifted in whichever directed enough weight is pressed down upon.
Nicholas Branch
Fifteen year veteran of the CIA hired to write a secret history of the assassination of John F. Kennedy. Working in a room overflowing with boxes and shelves that seem to contain endless amounts of data, Branch begins to feel overwhelmed by the job, especially as it relates to separating fact from conspiracy theory. The deeper he dives into the history, however, the less resistant he seems to contagion of conspiratorial nonsense.
Marguerite Oswald
Lee Harvey Oswald's mother who has raised him mostly alone in an iterant fashion allowing for no roots to grow. Her appearances are primarily through interior monologues addressed to “your honor” which is primed to speak up for son’s innocence.
Walter "Win" Everett, Jr.
Bitter ex-CIA agent forced into retirement after his involvement in the Bay of Pigs boondoggle. He makes plans to stage a fake assassination of JFK in Miami that sets up Oswald as the patsy. This plan is then adopted by T-Jay Mackey who tailors it for an actual assassination with Oswald as the patsy.
T-Jay Mackey
Representative of his status as a CIA operative, perhaps, he was born under the name Joseph Michael Norniak and is known as Theodore J. Mackey. As T-Jay, he is fellow Bay of Pigs bungler looking for revenge. Everett is the only person he remotely trusts and he doesn’t trust him, either; hence, his plan to take Everett’s staged murder to the next logical level.
David Ferrie
Bizarre former pilot who lost his job on charges of sexual misconduct. A known propensity for anti-communist virulence and pederasty with whom Oswald gets mixed up as a result of the ultra-Right-wing political views.
Marina Oswald
Mrs. Lee Harvey Oswald whom he met while living in the Soviet Union. She is physically and mentally abused by the unbalanced Libran.
Jack Ruby
Strip club owner who is equally at home among the low-level mobsters of Dallas as he is among the law enforcement officers. He accepts Carmine Latta's offer to use that familiarity with the cops to easily get into the police station in order to shoot Oswald.
Carmine Latta
Latta is the nexus at which the CIA, David Ferrie and Jack Ruby meet. He is a mobster who was a major player in the Cuban drug trafficking business prior to Castro's revolution. Now he uses David Ferrie to transfer funds to exilted Cubans in anticipation of a huge take of concessions from reinstated gambling casinos once Castro is overthrown. He also exploits Jack Ruby's financial difficulties by promising to help him out in return for Ruby killing Oswald.
Major General Edwin Walker
Hysterial anti-communist, anti-flouridation, anti-integration Right-wing nutjob whom Oswald actually did attempt to assassinate by shooting through a window. The bullet missed Walker due to hitting the window frame and flying off-course.
