Ellen Page
Ellen Page was nominated for an Academy Award for Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role for her work in this film. Page brought to life a 16-year-old dealing with pregnancy and the slew of emotions, hardships, and unexpected meaning it entails. She fully embodied a character that was wiser than her age, and at the same time less mature in her complete understanding of the world than she believed. Robert Ebert even said it was the best performance of the year.
Page was first recognized for her film work in 2005, when she starred in Hard Candy alongside Patrick Wilson, playing a victim of a pedophile who takes her molester hostage. Other films include X-Men: The Last Stand, Smart People, Whip It, Inception, Touchy Feely, Tallulah, and My Days of Mercy. Page is openly gay.
Michael Cera
Michael Cera became well known for his roles in Arrested Development and Superbad. He brings a dry and casual brand of deadpan humor to his work, but in Juno we can see the depth of feeling that this character has beneath the surface. Cera is able to reveal to us a kid who is in love, but doesn't know quite what to do, and because of this nearly misses his opportunity to be with Juno. The actor's ability to deliver lines in a natural, matter of fact way brings great humor as well as sensitivity to Bleeker, creating a really interesting character to watch.
Cera's other films include Confessions of a Dangerous Mind, Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, This is the End, and Molly's Game.
Jennifer Garner
Jennifer Garner has been a working actress for quite some time with film work in Pearl Harbor, Catch Me If You Can, and 13 Going on 30, to name a few. In Juno she plays a woman who isn't able to have a baby of her own and is desperate to be a mother.
Her best-known role is in the action television series Alias, for which she won a Golden Globe and a SAG Award.
Jason Bateman
Jason Bateman, like Michael Cera, is known for playing a leading role in Arrested Development, for which he won a Golden Globe award. He is known for his dry, realistic style of humor. His other films include Up in the Air, The Switch, Horrible Bosses, and Game Night. Recently he starred in the Netflix show Ozark.
J.K. Simmons
J.K. Simmons plays Juno's dad. Simmons has become very well known for his Oscar winning performance in Whiplash. Prior to garnering the award he graced the stages of Broadway in the nineties and was known for his roles in Law and Order and HBO's Oz. Other films include Spiderman, Zootopia, and I Love You, Man.
Allison Janney
Allison Janney plays Juno's stepmom in the film, and does so with a marked comic ease. She brings a well of endurance and strength to a role that could revert to stereotype. Janney is perhaps best known for her television work on such shows as The West Wing and Mom. She has appeared on Broadway numerous times and is a seasoned stage performer. Other films include Private Parts, Primary Colors, Drop Dead Gorgeous, 10 Things I Hate About You, American Beauty, Nurse Betty, The Hours, Finding Nemo, The Ice Storm, Hairspray, Minions, and most recently I, Tonya, for which she won an Academy Award.
Olivia Thirlby
Olivia Thirlby plays Juno's best friend Leah. Thirlby made her film debut in 2006 in the film United 93 before landing the role of Leah in Juno, which was released the following year. Other films include The Wackness, Margaret, and The Darkest Hour.
