Julio Cortazar: Short Stories Lesson Plan

Bringing in Technology

-For one of the Day 1 homework assignments, students will use Google Earth to look up the two settings of "Axolotl" and "The Idol of the Cyclades" and take notes on how seeing real-life images of the settings of Cortázar's fiction impacts their experience of the stories.

-For the Day 3 homework assignment, students will go on a virtual scavenger hunt to look up various cultural and historical references from post-WWII Europe in "Secret Weapons".

-In the Day 3 classroom activity, "Freezing Time: Image vs. Reality", students will use their personal devices to photograph and film both themselves and their peers, exploring the limitations of a fixed image vs. fluid motion.
