Study Objectives

If all of the elements of this lesson plan are employed, students will develop the following powers, skills, and understanding:

    Students will be exposed to a range of supplementary materials in order to help them place Wright's work within its historical, sociopolitical, and literary context, as well as to relate these contexts to their own lived experience.

    Students will participate in several activities (including spoken word exploration and performance, embodied creation of visual art, and choreography of an abstract poem) designed to help them experience poetic concepts, themes, and craft in a direct, embodied way.
