John
In "John's Cottage," John is the protagonists lover, and is a married man. After their affair ends, the protagonist comes to terms with how he didn't meet her needs through creating an alternative, imagined "John."
The protagonist of Storm Glass
The protagonist of Storm Glass is not given a name, and is only referred to as "she." Through this story, we get a glimpse of her inner thoughts and memories, including the time that her children were looking for sea glass on the beach.
