Jackie and Me Characters

Jackie and Me Character List

Jack Kennedy

Jack Kennedy is the protagonist of the story. The author describes Jack as a charismatic congressional representative who attracts the attention of every person around him. When he first meets Jacqueline, he thinks she is an ordinary girl in town. However, as he continues to interact with her, he realizes that there is something unique about them because they share a lot in politics and other interests.

After Jack discovers he is falling in love with Jacqueline, he asks his best friend, Billings, to date the woman on his behalf. Of course, it sounds weird for a man to ask a fellow man to date a woman on his behalf, but Jack takes the risk because he is a busy man. Towards the end of the novel, Jack marries Jacqueline.

Jacqueline Bouvier

Jacqueline is introduced to readers as the Inquiring Camera Girl in a famous newspaper in town. Jacqueline is an independent woman who does not intend to become a wife. According to Jacqueline, she wants to become financially independent and excel in her career. However, Jacqueline looks forward to interacting with influential people in society to achieve her independence. One of the persons Jacqueline wants to meet is the young, charismatic congressman called Jack Kennedy.

When Jacqueline is lucky to interact with Jack for the first time, she changes her resolution of being an independent woman and considers the possibility of becoming a wife. However, Jack starts growing distant because of his busy schedule. As a result, Jackie decides to spend most of her time with Lem Billings, Jack's close friend. Jacqueline enjoys Lem's company because she learns much about Jack from him. Later, Jack and Jacqueline get married.

Lem Billings

Lem is Jack's close friend and confidant. When Jack gives him the responsibility of dating Jacqueline on his behalf, he trusts that he will do a good job. As Jacqueline continues interacting with Lem, she discovers he is a closeted gay. However, Jacqueline is not bothered because she spends time with him intending to reach Jack. On the other hand, Jack's family asks Lem to make sure he convinces Jack to marry Jacqueline, which he, at last, does without hesitation.
