The Speaker
The speaker is the only active character in “In this strange labyrinth how shall I turn.” The speaker feels trapped within the complexities of a difficult romantic relationship. She struggles to think of any action she might take that would not have negative consequences. Ultimately, she determines that the best choice is to push herself to make a move, rather than fixating on what that move is. Yet she also expresses a desire for a different kind of love.
