A memoir by Mishna Wolff, I’m Down is one of the most eclectic and thought-provoking works to have been released in recent times. This text was published by St. Martin's Press (2009). The author narrates the unique experience of being white while living in a predominantly African-American neighborhood, having to struggle for acceptance in a diverse group.
Wolff has to survive bullying by her classmates and live up to the expectations of the society at the same time. She essentially witnesses a clash of two very opposing cultures and has to choose which to adopt and assimilate in her life.
