Idle Thoughts of an Idle Fellow Background

Idle Thoughts of an Idle Fellow Background

"Idle Thoughts of an Idle Fellow" is a collection of humorous stories of English writer Jerome K. Jerome, published in 1886. This book was the second book published by the author. It helped him to become a leading British writer-humorist. "Idle Thoughts of an Idle Fellow" is written in the same style as the novel "Three Men in a Boat", and is considered one of the best works of Jerome. Despite this, "The First Book of Idle Thoughts of an Idle Fellow" has never been as popular as the already mentioned novel. The book “Second Thoughts of an Idle Fellow” was published in 1898. Before the stories of these collections have appeared in "Chimes Home" magazine.

"Idle Thoughts of an Idle Fellow" influenced the name and ideas of the British magazine "The Idler", which is published twice a year.

Jerome devoted "Idle Thoughts of an Idle Fellow" to his friend and comrade in idleness - his pipe.
