Why does Nick seem so suspicious?

Students may have many speculations as to whether Nick may actually turn out to be a murderer. This is a good juncture to discuss their theories and predictions, based on the text. However, students should also consider what behaviors make Nick seem guilty even without hard evidence against him. Is behavior ever evidence of guilt or grounds for suspicion? Why does Nick seem to feel so little worry for his wife's safety? Nick's behavior doesn't prove anything about whether he's a murderer – but it does seem to indicate that he's not a very nice person who doesn't care much about Amy.
