Going Solo Background

Going Solo Background

Going Solo is a story written by notable children’s author, Roald Dahl. The book was published in 1986, by publishing house, Jonathan Cape.

The book is an autobiography of Dahl’s own life and adventures, and is a continuation of his previous books, Boy. The story revolves around his travels to Africa and his life as a pilot in The Royal Air Force during WWII, and the Battle of Athens in 1941.

Dahl’s claims in the book have come under fire in the book, The Authorized Biography of Roald Dahl (2010), by Donald Sturrock, who implies that Dahl’s stories have been sensationalized and that he had stolen accounts from other’s experiences.
