    Consider this discussion a natural evolution of the one preceding it in Day 1. Students should discuss Victor's isolation from his family as a driver of his growing obsession with natural philosophy and chemistry. They should observe that being alone over-inflates his thirst for knowledge to unhealthy proportions. Students may interpret his obsession to create a life as guided by his interest in some kind of deeper companionship (in addition to a passion for science). They may tie this back into Walton's own isolation and lust for knowledge.
