What is the quintessence of the fountain of love?
de Machaut's primary goal in this poem is to signify the supremacy of love. When the narrator visits the mountain of love, he sleeps and dreams, and during this process he finds peace of mind. Therefore, the narrator argues that love is supreme and it can heal, bring comfort and happiness to an individual who finds true love with God. He also extends this love to his late wife and nothing can interfere with the mountain of love in him.
