Peroration

The concluding part of a speech, usually intended to inspire enthusiasm in the audience

Enzyme

A substance produced by a living organism that acts as a catalyst in bringing about a biochemical reaction (usually some sort of protein)

Propound

To put forth an idea or point of view for consideration by others

Euphemism

A milder word or expression substituted for one considered to be too harsh

Jargon

Words or expressions that are specific to a particular profession or study, and difficult for others to understand

Democratic

Supporting popular or representative principles

Pertinent

Relevant or applicable to a particular matter

Free association

Mental process by which one word or image spontaneously suggests another without any apparent connection

Juxtaposition

Two things being placed close together for or with contrasting effects

Undermine

To damage or weaken something, especially gradually; erode the base of something

Catatonic

Characterized by being in a mental stupor and having physical rigidity

Coalesce

To come together to form a mass or whole

Opportunist

Someone who exploits circumstances to gain immediate advantage, instead of being guided by consistent principles

Amnesia

A partial or total loss of memory

Damask

Woven fabric with pattern visible on both sides

Erratic

Uneven or irregular in pattern or movement

Alimony

Court-ordered provision for a spouse after divorce or separation

Psychology

The scientific study of the human mind and its functions, especially those affecting behavior

Psychiatry

The study and treatment of mental illness, emotional disturbance, and abnormal behavior

Naivete

Lack of experience, wisdom, or judgment; innocence or unsophistication

Automation

The use of largely automatic equipment in a system of manufacturing or other process
