Fire Rush Metaphors and Similes

Fire Rush Metaphors and Similes

Towering inferno (Simile)

Asase's Red Ankara is compared to a towering inferno. The narrator says, "Red Ankara cloth wound around her hair like a towering inferno." Asase is Yamaye's best friend, and they spend most of their time together. The simile shows Asase’s outstanding strength. Whenever the narrator feels threatened, she turns to Asase for protection because no one dares to confront Asase.

A spear (Simile)

Lego’s walking stick is compared to a spear. The narrator says, “Skanking hard-hard, using his walking stick like a spear, firing it inner the air, shouting, Mash Down Babylon.” Lego is a famous musician with one artificial leg. Lego must use a walking stick while singing and dancing to support his body weight. The simile shows Lego's enthusiasm and will to excel in whatever he does. Consequently, for Lego, disability is not inability because no one can defeat him in dancing despite using an artificial leg.

Shimmering like dark water

Moose is a handsome man who attracts any woman he wants to have an affair with. Moose knows how to dress, and his shirts shimmer like dark water, making him look more appealing to women. The narrator says, "I look at Moose in his black silk shirt, shimmering like dark water, and wonder what kinda man he is." Yemaye says that Moose holds down women in his yard as he does to them whatever he wants. Moose can wear any woman because he values fashion in everything he does.
