Emile was Rousseau's hypothetical child whom he teaches as a mentor in the book. Through Emile, Rousseau has told the reader about the ways in which a child should be reared. Instead of incorporating the facts, teachers and parents should impart knowledge through practicals in their students. He teaches different lessons to Emile in each phase of his life.
