Selin
Selin is the story's protagonist. The author depicts Selin as a determined person looking forward to improving her life and her entire family. Selin is the most fortunate person in her family because she was born in the United States of America and got an opportunity to study at Harvard University.
While at university, Selin falls in love with Ivan, and she does everything possible to understand him. Selin accepts Ivan's offer to find her a job in the Hungarian countryside. While interacting with the people in the countryside, Selin learns that Ivan has an ex-girlfriend. The girlfriend meets Selin and questions her about how she relates to Ivan. Besides her relationship with Ivan, Selin is an outgoing woman who loves adventure. Selin tours several parts of the world to have leisure, have sex and attend parties.
Ivan
Ivan is a professor at Harvard University. When Ivan meets Selin, he starts a sexual relationship with her. Ivan is described as a handsome man who is caring and loving. Ivan takes Selin to the Hungarian countryside to find her a job. However, Ivan does not tell Selin that he had a girlfriend in the past. When Selin discovers this, she tries to question him, but he fails to answer satisfactorily.
Ivan’s old girlfriend
Ivan's old girlfriend is an insecure and curious woman who does not want to move on. When she discovers that Selin is Ivan's current girlfriend, she goes to question her about their relationship. Selin starts worrying about why Ivan's old girlfriend is so concerned about their relationship.
