Amal Mohammed Nasrullah Abdel-Hakim
The main protagonist of the story. She is described as being of Palestinian heritage with green-blue eyes and light brown hair. She is deeply religious but comes into conflict with this when she begins to harbor romantic feelings for Adam.
Leila Okulgen
One of Amal's best friends. She is described as being of Turkish heritage and having dark brown hair, and deep brown eyes. She too wears the hijab on a full time basis. She has a lot of issues with her strict, religious mother, who finds it shameful for her to want to become a lawyer because its not fit for a girl. She runs away from home due to this.
Yasmeen Khan
One of Amal's best friends. She is described as having curly brown hair and brown eyes. She also wears the hijab on an on-off basis. Her heritage is mixed English and Pakistani, and this often makes her a target of Tia's.
Adam Keane
He is the love interest of Amal. He is described as being popular and a jock, but also intelligent and he wants to pursue a career in Medicine. He also has a lot of emotional issues, resulting from his absentee mother. He also likes Amal and the two occasionally flirt.
Tia Tamos
The main antagonist of the novel, and enemy of Amal. She is described as having green eyes and jet-black hair, and being quite beautiful. She often makes racist remarks, most specifically towards Amal, for her religion.
