The Imagery of the Stained Glass

The author uses the stained glass to depict the sense of sight to the reader. This imagery is significant because it aids the reader to have a clear image of the house in which both Otto and Sophie live. The author writes, “A strong light, somewhat softened by the stained glass of a Tiffany Shade, Fell upon this repast”. The author continues to say, “…. the reflection from a fluorescent tube over a stainless-steel sink lays upon the floor in front of the entrance to the kitchen. This imagery description also creates an image of Sophie's Kitchen.

The Imagery of the Rear Windows

Otto is keen on what is happening to the houses around his neighborhood. He is surprised that some of the houses are being sold and the people already living there have nowhere to go. As he looks outside using the rear windows, he sees the cat leaping as if he gave it something to eat. The rear windows depict the imagery of sight to the reader because he can visualize what is happening outside. The author writes, "He gestured toward the rear windows with his hand. Out of the corner of his eye, he saw the cat leap as though he had offered it something.”

The imagery of Rice.

Rice has been used by the author to depict the imagery of taste to the reader. Throughout the text, Otto eats the food that has been prepared by Sophie without giving any complement. However, Sophie does her level best to ensure that she cooks a portion of nice and tasty food for Otto. Surprising, Sophie is happy now that Otto has recognized her cooking prowess. When served with a plate of rice, Otto says, "The rice is wonderful, Sophie.” This imagery makes the reader feel the taste of the rice because it is described as pleasing by Otto.
