Imagery and Symbolism
Kind of Activity:
Long-term Project
Objective:
Students will be able to identify and discuss the symbolic significance of imagery in the play.
Common Core Standards:
CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.RL.9-10.2
Structure:
For the duration of the play, have students keep a journal identifying the symbolic nature of the play's imagery.
Offline (in a notebook), or online using Google Docs (recommended), Dropbox or Evernote: Have students set up a T-Chart, making the left side a place to notice strong imagery in the play and the right side a place to write its significance and symbolism. Stop occasionally throughout the reading to have students share their observations....
