The irony of Cuffy (Sportcoat) Lambkin
Sportcoat is a deacon at a local church called Five Ends Baptist Church. Some of the aspects of a deacon include morality, respect, and the fear of God. Ironically, Deacon Sportcoat’s behavior contradicts his calling to serve as clergy. For instance, Sportcoat is a drunkard and he shoots people carelessly.
Suicide
After Sportcoat reforms into a good man and cuts links with the spirit of death, readers expect him to live a new sanctified life. Ironically, Sportcoat does the contrary. After all, he decides to end his life because he has become a good man society admires. Therefore, Sportcoat walks straight into the harbor's waters and drowns, thus, mysteriously ending his life.
The iron of Bunch Moon
Bunch is the biggest cartel in the drug smuggling industry, and when he discovers that Sportcoat has shot Deems, he vows to retaliate. Bunch is sure that he will kill Sportcoat using his own hands. Ironically, Bunch attempts but fails, and he is forced to hire an assassin to kill Sportcoat. However, Sportcoat still survives, and Bunch regrets his decision to waste time and resources pursuing Sportcoat.
