How do these chapters develop David and Agnes's relationship? What do they seem to imply about their relationship?
In previous chapters, it was easy to take David's assertion that Agnes was a "sister" to him at face value. In these chapters, however, it becomes obvious (to readers, but not to David) that she is David's perfect match and should be his wife. Agnes is David's dearest friend and confidante.
