Mariamar
She is an unmarried young woman who has grown up in Kulumani. After losing her sister to the lionesses, she becomes aware of how terribly her father treats her. He has consistently abused her and her sister their entire lives. As Mariamar considers the plight of her village facing the threat of the lionesses, she starts to wonder whether it is just that they be plagued by such fierce creatures. Maybe they deserve it. Although she silently obeys her father, she remains hopeful that somehow Archangel will save her. She doesn't think that's she's important enough for him to notice, but she cannot keep herself from hoping.
Archangel Bullseye
Archangel is hired by the village elders to eliminate their lion problem. Hailing from much larger, more advanced places, he is astonished at the simplicity of these people. He remains open-minded in his quest, noticing some details which seem off about the situation. Thanks to his adamant curiosity, he learns that the women of the village have summoned these lionesses through witchcraft in order to punish the men for abusing them all these years. Archangel recognizes that he is now positioned to help these women, so he takes it upon himself to persuade the men of the village of their ignorance and vile. He lives up to his name as the savior of the women of Kulumani.
The Lionesses
These mysterious animals appear out of nowhere one day and begin terrorizing Kulumani, killing many of the villagers. As the narrative progresses, it is revealed that the lionesses are not physical beings. They are powerful spirits who have been summoned to pay vengeance upon the wicked ways of the men of Kulumani. When the men realize their evil, they break the curse, and the lionesses disappear.
The Village Elders
These men are proud and stubborn. After centuries of isolation, they have carefully maintained control over the village through brute force, most notably at the expense of the women. They decide to invite Archangel to kill the lionesses, but they soon regret that choice. They resent Archangel for his progressive ideas and the dangerous influence he has upon some of the women and the younger residents.
The Elder Women
These crafty women have secretly mastered the dark arts. Tired of the constant abuse, they summon the lionesses to punish the men for their wrongdoings. They're looking for a savior.
