The sequel to New Kid still finds Jordan Banks unsure about attending Riverdale for another school year. He wants to attend an art school, but his mother is hell-bent on enrolling him to Riverdale for another year. On the first day of school, Drew is harassed by his fellow students who wanted to touch his hair.
In the previous school year, Drew and Andy got into an altercation that ruined their relationship. Drew attempts to extend an olive branch to Andy but to no avail. Weeks later, Andy excitedly approaches Jordan, Drew and his friends and suggests that they wear Avenger costumes for Halloween. Everybody is caught off guard, and they decide against it.
Andy is furious as he walks away from the group. Drew is enlisted to be the student's representative when a neighboring school pays them a visit. This neighboring school has a black-majority student population. During this meeting, the students from the other school witness just how privileged Riverdale is.
Later on, Jordan and Drew are invited to Liam's house for Thanksgiving. Drew and Liam's relationship deteriorates after Drew jealously questions Liam's privileged lifestyle. At the end of the school year, the students are shown a film on urban living. The film inaccurately portrays African-Americans, which has a ripple-effect in the way they are perceived in school. The school begins a campaign on how the school can be more diverse and welcoming of other races and cultures.
