Daughter of Hermocrates, she is a woman whose beauty enchants many men and is the cause of many of the events of the novel.
Chaereas
Husband to Callirhoe. He is madly in love with her but is deceived into thinking she is unfaithful, and as such unintentionally buries her alive after thinking she has died.
Dionysius
After she is found alive, Callirhoe is sold as a slave to Dionysus, who falls madly in love with her beauty and marries her.
Artaxerxes
The King of Persia, who is tasked with deciding who is Callirhoe's rightful husband, but in reality wants her for himself.
Aphrodite
Goddess of Love and Beauty, and the narrator of the novel. Her beauty is often compared to that of Callirhoe.
