Detritus

disturbing and horrifying because of involvement with or depiction of death and injury

megalomaniacal

someone who has an unnaturally strong wish for power and control, or thinks that they are much more important and powerful than they really are

pedant

a person who is excessively concerned with minor details and rules or with displaying academic learning

the state of being stupefied, of rendering someone unable to think or feel properly

reverence

deep respect for someone or something

crapulous

caused by or showing the effects of alcohol

soliloquy

an act of speaking one's thoughts aloud when alone or regardless of any hearers, especially by a character in a play

litany

a tedious recital or repetitive series

provocateur

a person who deliberately behaves controversially in order to provoke argument or other strong reactions

downtrodden

oppressed or treated badly by people in power

eugenics

A set of beliefs and practices that aim to improve the genetic quality of a human population; historically, eugenicists have attempted to alter human gene pools by excluding people and groups judged to be inferior or promoting those judged to be superior

lamentation

the passionate expression of grief or sorrow; weeping

nostalgia

a sentimental longing or wistful affection for the past, typically for a period or place with happy personal associations

perversion

the alteration of something from its original course, meaning, or state to a distortion or corruption of what was first intended; sexual behavior or desire that is considered abnormal or unacceptable

affliction

something that causes pain or suffering

anarchism

a political theory advocating the abolition of hierarchical government and the organization of society on a voluntary, cooperative basis without recourse to force or compulsion
