Bartholomew and the Oobleck is a children's story book by the famous author of children's literature. Unlike his other famous works this book has a prose narration, with rhymes only appearing a few times.
The story follows a young Bartholomew Cubbins, a grumpy's king's page boy who has to undo his king's mistake. The king of Didd becomes bored with the sunshine, rain, fog and show and wants something new. His magicians accomplish his wish and create a green substance called Oobleck to fall from the sky. The king's idea becomes a threat to the entire kingdom of Didd, and it is up to Bartholomew to finally put some sense into the foolish king and save the kingdom.
It is a story with universal themes meant for children, like bravery and appreciating what one has. It was published in the midst of the 20th century and still holds its weight, just like other works by Dr. Seuss.
