The Ideals of Motherhood in "If I Should Have a Daughter" 9th Grade

In an often harsh and unfair world, there is no love as genuine and sincere as the one existing between a mother and daughter. A mother is one of the most important people a child’s life who will shape them with their care and support to become their own person. Sarah Kay in “If I Should Have a Daughter” expresses the important role of a mother to teach and guide their child while letting them experience life to lead them to be more independent. As a teacher, a mother will provide guidance and advice, however, often children will have the tendency to pave their own path. Although one of the jobs of a mother is to lead their child in the right direction, it is just as important to allow the kid to do their own thing knowing they may screw up.
