Badlands

Barren uncultivable lands (Noun).

Grandapa

Grandfather. ‘Apa’ means ‘Father’. Not to be confused with the regular English word ‘grandpa’. (Indian English).

Holler

Shout, Yell, Cry, Scream (Verb).

Vedas

Sacred texts of the Hindus (Noun).

Brahmin

Upper-caste Hindus, holding the highest stratum in the social hierarchy (Noun).

Spat

Past form of the verb ‘spit’.

Fetch

Get, Bring, Collect (Verb).

Down-gutter

Down the drain or trough. The intentional similarity with ‘downstream’ should be noted, though used in a derogatory manner.

Heritage

Inheritance, Birthright, Patrimony (Noun).

Repository

Storage (Noun).

Descendant

Heir, Successor (Noun).

Paisa

The smallest unit of Indian currency. One-hundredth of a Rupee (Noun).

Arse

Buttocks, Anus (Noun, vulgar slang).
