My Journey with Reading Miguel Giovanni Navarro

My crown! It's lost! My crown is gone!" cries Babar the Elephant. As a toddler, mom would read my favorite bedtime story Babar Loses his Crown, an elephant who (you guessed it) loses his crown in Paris. That story, and others like it, are in stacks in my room. Books are everywhere on the floor, in and on the bookcase, and by my bedside. There are so many books around me, I have lost count!

Recently, I struggle finding time to read for fun. With my advanced classes, I do my work in chunks, and often finish work at 9:30 or 10 pm. By that point, I am tired and go to sleep. To make sure I have time to read, I came up with a system: On the weekend, I devote an hour to reading for fun. Nothing is more relaxing, and enjoyable than kicking back, listening to music, and reading my favorite genre - historical nonfiction. I look up to historical figures such as Teddy Roosevelt, John F Kennedy, and Abraham Lincoln. I am especially fond of Lincoln. A humble man, he was a heavy reader. His love of books drove him to the political arena, all the way to becoming President. I am striving to be like Lincoln. The books I read encourage me to be politically engaged, and learn the history of our nation.
