Describe a topic, idea, or concept you find so engaging that it makes you lose all track of time. Why does it captivate you? What or who do you turn to when you want to learn more?
When I was about the age of six, my parents introduced me to the technological toy-marvel of the 90s, the original Nintendo Gameboy, which I came to both cherish and dissect. I would move on to owning my first computer at around age 8, an HP Pavilion workstation running Windows XP. I remember first hearing of overclocking, a process that pushes hardware beyond its limits. I wanted to play a graphics-hungry game on a grossly outdated computer. So I went ahead and 'overclocked' my first computer. The joy on my face was immeasurable. That is, at least for the first five seconds before my computer blue screened. Its motherboard remained damaged. Nowadays, the computer's salvaged case houses our makeshift media center.
Since those years, I have tried to expand my skillset, STEM, or otherwise. I first took up programming around the 6th grade, learning Python, a programming language, to experiment with scripting and later more advanced programming. After moving to the San Fernando Valley and attending a new school, I made quick friends. I began an initiative with fellow aficionados of technology.
