My Journey to Medicine
What are the factors that inspired your journey to medical school?
My stomach started itching uncontrollably when I was ten years old and in the middle of Mr. John’s fourth-grade class. I remember asking myself whether I had been bitten by a bug. The itching became unbearable and I sought permission from Mr. John to go to the nurse’s office. The nurse examined me and immediately called my mother who took me to several healthcare facilities. Most of the doctors could not figure out my condition until I met a dermatologist. The dermatologist diagnosed me with an allergy. She gave me medication that relieved my condition almost immediately. It was like a miracle. To date, I have no idea what was the cause of such kind of an allergy. However, I am appreciative of that condition because it introduced me to a physician who inspired and cultivated my interest in medicine.
Since then, my interest in studying medicine continued to increase by the day. I developed an interest in math and science because I believed they would play a big role in my life. I continued receiving awards until when I completed elementary school. I proceeded to high school where I also did quite well. In addition to my studies, I started playing hardball and football.
