Something out of nothing Anonymous

Clutching the remote-control helicopter that I had just received, I sprinted home. When I arrived, I rang the bell and waited for the door to open. I was so electrified that I would have run through the door and left a “me” shaped hole. I was not excited to play with it but to dismantle it and see what cool things I could make out of its constituents. I started rummaging around the apartment for miscellaneous items that I felt could be useful and stored them into a box that I called my tinker box.

Soon enough, the box was filled with objects: LEDs, wooden boards, chains, spoons, pipes, straws, wires, wire cutters, glass, DC motors, a tiny bicycle tire, and some gears. Afterwards, my dad called me for dinner. The air conditioning was broken, and it was getting hot. When I saw my mom leaning over and reaching desperately for one of the plates on the table, thoughts flashed across my mind: gears, a bicycle wheel, and SPOONS! I ran back into my room using gears, a bicycle wheel, a cardboard wheel, and a fan made out of spoons that I had made earlier, I created a fan connected to a spinning cardboard lazy susan so that when we eat at the table, it wouldn’t be scorching hot and no one would have to reach to grab a plate of food and...
