An intersex baby was born in Croydon Harbour, Canada, in 1968. His unique condition of having both female and male reproductive organs perplexed both his parents. His stoic father desired a son and thought that it's important to be masculine to survive in their word, and thus named him Wayne and raised him as a boy. However, "Wayne"'s true self is more female than male. He works with his father, but his mother and her best friend secretly calls him Annabel, and knows about his dreams of becoming a synchronized swimmer.
When puberty finally comes, Wayne begins to menstruate like every girl does. This is when he started a close friendship with his classmate Wally. His father still wants him to be more boyish, and considers Wally to be a negative influence, Therefore, his father decided to build a bridge over the creek with him so that he can learn to be masculine. However, Wayne's femininity eventually took over. He used curtains and lights to decorate the bridge. When his father found out, he dismantled the ornaments in anger and interrupted his friendship with Wally.
In the end when Wayne becomes an young adult, he moved away and discontinued masculinizing medication. He learned to accept who he really is and allowed his body to feminize naturally. Ultimately, he forgave his father and reunited with Wally.
