Marco
The main character and protagonist of the book, Marco is a young boy with a kind heart and a wild imagination. This is exemplified by his trip down Mulberry Street, where he first sees a horse and a wagon. Later, however, Marco starts to conjure up increasingly crazy things. For example, Marco replaces the horse with a Zebra in his head. Marco continues to conjure up even crazier things - up to the point of a grand parade filled with incredible things.
Marco's Father
Although he is only briefly mentioned, Marco's father is a kind and understanding man who goes out of his way to talk with and try to understand Marco, his feelings, and perhaps most importantly to the book, his experiences.
