Why is Naomi as a kid leading a disappointing and lonely life?
Despite being a bright girl, Naomi realizes that she does not fit well in the society that she lives. The only people around Naomi are her parents, who are suffering from different conditions. For example, Naomi's father is suffering from a heart attack. Naomi's father's condition influences her career choice, and she decides that she will be a surgeon when she grows up. On the other hand, Naomi's mother is struggling with depression. Consequently, Naomi is lonely. After all, there is no one to talk to because those close to her are working with their sufferings.

How does Naomi break her disappointing and lonely life?
The first person who Naomi befriends to break her loneliness is Teddy, who is her neighbor. The friendship between Teddy and Naomi blossoms, and she realizes that she in love with him even if they are still children. However, a time comes when Teddy has to leave, and Naomi is left lonely again. Naomi's solitude comes to an end when she goes home to join college. While at college, Naomi makes new friends after joining the Shakespeare Society. Therefore, Naomi is no longer alone because she is surrounded by many friends ready to support her.

What is the similarity and distinction between Naomi and her friend, Jun Uko?
Naomi first meets her friend at college, and she realizes that they share one thing in common, family issues. The same problems facing Naomi at home, such as parents' sickness, are also facing Jun. The distinction between Naomi and Jun is that their family backgrounds are different. For instance, Jun comes from a wealthy background, while Naomi doesn't. Despite the differences, Naomi accepts that everything that happens to her is fate and she has to face life with confidence.
